Cluster "Settlement and landscape in the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic"

— filed under:

In this cluster, the locations of Stone Age sites in the southwestern Baltic Sea region are considered in the context of their hinterland. The analysis of the characteristics of settlements that were used either seasonally or permanently permits a comparison with other sites in the same or other areas. Subsequently, the spatial relationship between both individual settlements and settlement in general in each period is examined with regard to the surrounding countryside; also examined are human strategies in the face of environmental changes.
