Chr. In diesem Zeitraum fanden entscheidende Entwicklungen der Menschheitsgeschichte statt, die vom pal\u00e4olithischen Basislager am Eisrand zu ersten staatlichen Strukturen wie der \u00e4g\u00e4ischen Polis f\u00fchrten.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The development stages in this process were very different, depending on the period and the region, but always involved repeated transformations. \u201cTransformation\u201d is defined as processes that led to substantial and permanent reorganisations of the socio-economic patterns of interaction between man and the environment. Such transformations can be identified in their various chronological, geographical and social dimensions. Consequently, the CRC examines the excellent archaeological and palaeo-ecological archives pertaining to the various geographical areas with different social constellations, from the Mediterranean to the North Sea and from the Stone Age hunting camp to the early city. In order to identify and interpret the socio-ecological dimension of transformations, combinations of archaeological and palaeo-ecological methods are employed and constantly refined.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Forschungsschwerpunkt \u201eDas ehemalige Ostpreu\u00dfen im Netzwerk baltischer Arch\u00e4ologie\u201c fokussiert mit dem ehemaligen Ostpreu\u00dfen (heute zu Russland, Polen und Litauen geh\u00f6rend) ein geographisch und kulturhistorisch definiertes Gebiet an der s\u00fcdlichen Ostseek\u00fcste, das mit einer sehr speziellen Forschungsgeschichte, aber auch mit au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Forschungspotentialen verbunden ist. In kaum einer anderen Region Europas ist die politisch bedingte Teilung der nachkriegszeitlichen internationalen Forschung in Ost und West so deutlich. Dies ist mit dem kriegsbedingten Verlust und der sp\u00e4teren Wiederentdeckung originaler Funde und Dokumente aus den Forschungsperioden der Vorkriegszeit verbunden. Die \u00fcberwiegend arch\u00e4ologischen und historischen Studien werden in einem breiten interdisziplin\u00e4ren Rahmen durchgef\u00fchrt. Sie gehen von der Grundannahme aus, dass sich Mensch und Umwelt tiefgreifend gegenseitig geformt haben und dabei sozio-\u00f6kologische Zusammenh\u00e4nge entstanden sind, die mit rezenten Entwicklungen strukturell vergleichbar sind. In sechs Subclustern werden \u00fcbergreifende Themen untersucht: (1) ROOTS of Socio-Environmental Hazards; (2) Dietary ROOTS: Domestication, Diet, and Diseases; (3) Knowledge ROOTS: Innovation, Cognition, and Technology; (4) Urban ROOTS: Urban Agency and Perception; (5) ROOTS of Inequalities: Social, Economic, and Environmental developments; und (6) ROOTS of Conflict: Competition and Conciliation. In diesen international zusammengesetzten Arbeitsgruppen arbeiten erfahrene Wissenschaftler und wissenschaftlicher Nachwuchs unterschiedlicher Fachdisziplinen eng zusammen. Fundamentale Unterst\u00fctzung mit Infrastruktur und Expertise erhalten sie von einer technischen, einer Kommunikations- und einer geisteswissenschaftlichen Plattform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Exzellenzcluster ROOTS wird im Rahmen der Exzellenzstrategie des Bundes und nach Antragstellung durch die CAU Kiel zun\u00e4chst f\u00fcr 6 Jahre gef\u00f6rdert.
