Falknerei, die Kunst mit V\u00f6geln zu jagen (Friedrich II.) und ein menschliches Kulturerbe (UNESCO), hat viele Zeugnisse hinterlassen: von Westeuropa und Nordafrika im Westen bis nach Japan im Osten.<\/p>\n\n

Die \u00e4ltesten gesicherten Nachweise f\u00fcr Falknerei stammen aus dem ersten Jahrtausend v.Chr. Vermutet wird eine Herkunft in Mittelasien, bei sogenannten Reiternomaden, von wo aus sich die Kenntnis dieser Jagdform verbreitete. F\u00fcr das ZBSA sind zahlreiche, reich ausgestattete, mittelschwedische Gr\u00e4ber aus dem Zeitraum vom 6.-10. Jh. von zentraler Bedeutung, die durch die Beigabe von Greifv\u00f6geln (meist Habichte) weltweit einzigartig sind.<\/p>\n\n

Im vorliegenden Buch werden Falknerei und Vogelsymbolik \u00fcber Jahrtausende hinweg auf verschiedenen Kontinenten betrachtet. Das Buch, vier B\u00e4nde mit rund 2000 Seiten, geht auf einen Workshop am ZBSA im Jahr 2014 zur\u00fcck, doch die Publikation wurde ganz wesentlich erweitert und umfasst nun Beitr\u00e4ge von mehr als 100 Autoren aus rund 20 L\u00e4ndern. Die Beizjagdforschung am ZBSA geht weiter: Ein zweites Buch geht auf eine Konferenz im M\u00e4rz 2018 an der New York University Abu Dhabi (Vereinigte Arabische Emirate) zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n\n
