During the period AD 250-480, and within the framework of sacrificial activities, large quantities of military equipment were deposited here which can be interpreted as the spoils of war, i.e. war booty, gained during the course of military conflicts between different socio-political units.<\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of the 20th century, excavation campaigns at the site by the Danish National Museum documented numerous cultural-historically very important objects and finds dating from the Late Roman Iron Age and Migration period.<br>By virtue of the large number of offerings (at least six but probably as many as seven or eight separate deposition events), together with the diversity of the equipment represented in the finds assemblages, the finds material from Nydam provides essential access to the history of events and lines of cultural-historical development in the northern part of Barbaricum during the Late Roman Iron Age and Migration period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nydam bog \u2013 weapons<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Naturgem\u00e4\u00df nehmen die Waffenbestandteile in einem Opferplatz mit Heeresausr\u00fcstungen einen ganz wesentlichen Platz ein.<\/p>\n<p>The new excavations in Nydam yielded c. 150 sword blades, c. 500 lance and spear points, around 30 complete or fragmented wooden scabbards and c. 60 shields , all of which can be almost completely reconstructed. Nydam mose \u2013 Waffenausr\u00fcstungen Naturgem\u00e4\u00df nehmen die Waffenbestandteile in einem Opferplatz mit Heeresausr\u00fcstungen einen ganz wesentlichen Platz ein. Jahrhunderts sind zahlreiche kulturhistorisch \u00e4u\u00dferst wichtige Objekte und Befunde der j\u00fcngeren r\u00f6mischen Kaiserzeit und der V\u00f6lkerwanderungszeit dokumentiert worden.Dabei erlaubt das Fundmaterial aus Nydam durch seine hohe Frequenz an Opferungen (mindestens 6, vermutlich aber 7\u20138 Niederlegungen) sowie durch die Diversit\u00e4t der Ausr\u00fcstungsobjekte einen wesentlichen Zugang zu den ereignisgeschichtlichen und kulturhistorischen Entwicklungsstr\u00e4ngen des n\u00f6rdlichen Barbaricums der j\u00fcngeren Kaiserzeit und V\u00f6lkerwanderungszeit. Jahrhunderts sind zahlreiche kulturhistorisch \u00e4u\u00dferst wichtige Objekte und Befunde der j\u00fcngeren r\u00f6mischen Kaiserzeit und der V\u00f6lkerwanderungszeit dokumentiert worden.<br \/>Dabei erlaubt das Fundmaterial aus Nydam durch seine hohe Frequenz an Opferungen (mindestens 6, vermutlich aber 7\u20138 Niederlegungen) sowie durch die Diversit\u00e4t der Ausr\u00fcstungsobjekte einen wesentlichen Zugang zu den ereignisgeschichtlichen und kulturhistorischen Entwicklungsstr\u00e4ngen des n\u00f6rdlichen Barbaricums der j\u00fcngeren Kaiserzeit und V\u00f6lkerwanderungszeit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nydam mose \u2013 Waffenausr\u00fcstungen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Naturgem\u00e4\u00df nehmen die Waffenbestandteile in einem Opferplatz mit Heeresausr\u00fcstungen einen ganz wesentlichen Platz ein.<\/p>\n<p>Die Neugrabungen in Nydam erbrachten ca. 150 Schwertklingen, ca. 500 Lanzen- und Speerspitzen, etwa 30 vollst\u00e4ndige oder fragmentierte h\u00f6lzerne Schwertscheiden und ca. 60 nahezu vollst\u00e4ndig rekonstruierbare Schilde.
